Members of ESCCAP UK & Ireland are among a group of parasitologists calling for greater investment in core parasitology teaching within UK veterinary schools.
Writing in the current issue of Veterinary Record, the authors argue that parasitology teaching is now so limited at vet schools that graduates are not being adequately prepared to deal with the challenges of parasite control.
With changing parasite distributions, emerging threats and evolving patterns of transmission, a strong foundation in parasitology is essential to support effective veterinary practice and protect animal, human and environmental health.
