  • Contributions towards research materials
  • Studentships
  • PhD/MSc studentships (typically as a CASE partner)

Application Guidelines

Applications must be led by a member of staff from a veterinary school in the UK or Republic of Ireland, or by a practicing veterinarian or veterinary nurse with clinical skills, qualifications and appropriate knowledge.  Research projects are normally expected to be undertaken within the UK or the Republic of Ireland, though some flexibility may be allowed in exceptional circumstances.

Funded projects must not involve experimental animals or the artificial induction of disease.  Any animal involvement (including obtaining samples) must fall within the remit of recognised veterinary practice and appropriate ethical approval must be obtained prior to the start of the project.  Individuals working in clinical practice, without university or industry connections, may wish to explore ethical review through the RCVS Ethics Review Panel.

Funding is usually capped at around £3,000 per year, per project and projects must be completed within a maximum of three years.  The grant must not be used to fund publication charges.

The closing date for applications is 1st April each year.  All applications will be assessed by the ESCCAP UK & Ireland Research Committee and all funding decisions are final.  Assessment will be based on the project’s novelty, scientific challenge, value for money, educational benefit and its contribution to the advancement of veterinary parasitology.

Please refer to the terms and conditions for further details and apply via the form below.
