Parasite Control Champion of the Year Award 2026

Nominations open for the 2026 ESCCAP UK & Ireland Parasite Control Champion of the Year Award

ESCCAP UK & Ireland is inviting nominations for its Parasite Control Champion of the Year Award 2026, recognising an individual who has made a significant contribution to companion animal parasitology and helped advance parasite control in pet animals.

The award celebrates veterinary professionals, researchers and allied professionals who have contributed through innovative approaches to practical parasite management, education, research or development.  It forms part of ESCCAP UK & Ireland’s commitment to raising awareness of veterinary parasitology, encouraging applied research and supporting more effective and sustainable parasite management solutions.

Who can be nominated?

Candidates must be a veterinary surgeon, veterinary nurse or other veterinary professional who has made a significant contribution to companion animal parasitology.  This could include:

• introducing novel approaches to practical parasite management;
• making an outstanding contribution to education and knowledge sharing;
• undertaking pioneering research or development; or
• advancing parasite control or the more sustainable use of parasiticides.

Individuals may self-nominate or be nominated by a veterinary surgeon, veterinary nurse or research parasitologist.  Nominations should include a statement explaining how the nominee’s work has contributed to advances in companion animal parasite control and/or the more sustainable use of parasiticides.

Award and presentation

The winner will be named “ESCCAP UK & Ireland Parasite Control Champion of the Year 2026” and will receive £500 prize money, a certificate and an invitation to submit an article about their work for the ESCCAP newsletter.

Nominations will be assessed by an awards committee of ESCCAP UK & Ireland members, selected and chaired by the Head of ESCCAP UK & Ireland.  The committee’s decision will be final.

The award will be presented on Thursday 19th November 2026 at the London Vet Show.
