Haemaphysalis inermis

France, Poland, Regions of the Mediterranean

Haemaphysalis inermis is generally found in forest areas including (France); Fontainbleau, Chateauroux, Royan, Bordeaux an vienne.

Pathogenesis

Most hosts: Tick Paralysis

H. inermis has also been associated with tick borne encephalitis (TBE).

Description

Adult female dorsal features

• Palps long and narrow
• Cornua absent
• Trochanter I has a small posterior facing spur
• Overall length of unfed female is 2.5-3.5mm
  
• Engorged females can measure up to 8.0mm in length

Adult female ventral features

•  Coxae I-IV: small external spur

Adult male dorsal features

• Palps lack lateral projections
• Lateral and cervical grooves absent
• Trochanter I has posterior facing spur
• Overall length of male is 2.4-3.0mm

• Coxae I-IV: small external spur
• Large, rounded adanal shields present
